The 2020 Mendip Business Awards have been cancelled due to the coronavirus emergency.
Our decision was not an easy one, however, we must ensure public safety during the crisis and could not risk the health of those planning to attend. Businesses who have entered the awards have been offered automatic entry for 2021, a date for these awards is still to be confirmed, but we start planning them soon and look forward to celebrating with you next year.

Barber's Farmhouse Cheese - food sponsor
The Barber family have been making cheddar cheese for longer than anyone else worldwide. Barber is now the oldest surviving cheddar-makers in the world.
To make the best cheese, we need the best West Country milk. Their dairy cows graze the lush pastures of Somerset and Dorset to produce rich, creamy milk. They also work with many of our neighbouring farmers who supply us with additional milk and we’re proud to support our local farming community in this way.
Being the sole guardians of the country’s last remaining traditional cheese starter cultures — the ‘friendly’ bacteria that start the cheese making process and contribute to the final texture, aroma and taste. Only by using these cultures can we be sure that we’re making true West Country cheddar.

Worleys Cider - drink sponsor
Worleys is an award-winning cider maker based in Dean, near Shepton Mallet. They focus on making quality ciders using heritage cider apples from Somerset’s finest orchards and are a great example of this county’s first-rate food & drink producers. Their Special Reserve Keeved cider scooped some major prizes in 2019 - winning Champion Cider at the Taste of the West awards, along with a national Great Taste Golden Fork Heritage Award.
Worleys sells cider through many different channels, such as wholesale distribution, direct on-trade deliveries and online retail. They also run a popular cider bar at various events through the year, including the Frome Independent and the Mid-Somerset Show. Export has been a steady sales channel, with countries such as Hong Kong, US and the Netherlands regularly enjoying a bottle or two. In 2020, the aim is to establish a new keg cider called Apple Tap - a light, refreshing 4.9% variety, that’s already getting great reviews. www.worleyscider.co.uk neil@worleyscider.co.uk 01749 880016
